Chic Spotlight: The Alchemist Magazine

The Alchemist Magazine features fashion and art talent.

Cincy Chic: What is The Alchemist Magazine?
Jessica Fogle, Publisher of The Alchemist Magazine: The Alchemist is an independent, submission-based fashion and art magazine that publishes in both print and digital editions on a monthly basis. We are based out of Cincinnati, but our contributors and readers are spread across the world.

Cincy Chic: When and how did it get started?
Fogle: The idea started about two years ago. I am a fashion photographer by trade and one of the goals in that industry is to be published. Through research of other independent magazines, I began to formulate the concept of starting my own publication. The first year mostly involved laying the groundwork for the name and theory of the brand and researching the industry. To date, we have released four months of issues and our September issue will be releasing this week.

Cincy Chic: What kinds of topics do you cover?
Fogle: We feature fashion and beauty photography editorials as well as fashion related artwork and illustration in each issue. We also spotlight designers, photographers and models working within the fashion industry.

Cincy Chic: What makes The Alchemist Magazine unique?
Fogle: The inclusion of our Artist Features in every issue makes us unique. We spotlight three artists each month by featuring a portfolio of their work along with a bio, artist statement and links to their websites or social media.

Cincy Chic: How many subscribers do you have?
Fogle: The way our magazine publishes is quite different than what most people are used to, so we don’t have subscribers. When an issue is released it is immediately available for purchase through a site called Magcloud where it is then shipped to the customer.

Cincy Chic: What is your goal for the The Alchemist Magazine?
Fogle: Our goal is to feature and promote artists, designers, photographers, models, makeup artists, hairstylists and wardrobe stylists from around the world and give them a platform to share their talents.

Cincy Chic: How can readers find the magazine?
Fogle: Readers can preview all of our issues at We also post images from the issues on social media and our website.

Cincy Chic: Is there anything new on the horizon for The Alchemist Magazine?
Fogle: Right now we are working on releasing the September issue, which has an open theme. Most of our issues have specific themes for contributions. After this issue we will be releasing the Fall issue in October, and we are taking submissions for our Beauty issue (releasing in November) and our Avant Garde issue (releasing in December). We’ve already had an America’s Next Top Model winner on a cover and we’ve featured some higher profile photographers, Project Runway designers and models.

Cincy Chic: Where can readers go to learn more
Fogle: Visit us on our website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest. You can email for submissions.

Editor’s Note: Fogle adds that The Alchemist Magazine typically shoots at least one editorial for the magazine locally each month, and they would love to work with as many Cincinnati models, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, wardrobe stylists and photographers as possible in order to share regional talent with readers worldwide.
