Cincy Chic: What is “The Future is Female” exhibit at 21c Museum Hotel?
Alice Gray Stites, 21c Museum Hotels’ Chief Curator and Museum Director: Investigating identity, consumer culture, ecology, history, mythology, and power, the art featured in The Future is Female illuminates both the consequences and the persistence of the struggle for equality. Featuring female artists from around the world, the broad range of media and subject matter presented reflects the ongoing influence of the art of the Second Wave Women’s Liberation movement.

Cincy Chic: What’s in the exhibit?
Gray Stites: The Future is Female features nearly 60 works by 43 female and feminist artists including important new works by Valérie Belin, Zoë Buckman, Frances Goodman, Zanele Muholi, Vee Spears, and Saya Woolfalk on view for the first time.

Gray Stites: Feminist artists have long lent a powerful voice to the cause for not only gender equality, but equity in many forms. In today’s sociopolitical climate, voices speaking for equality and equity are more important than ever before.
