City Chicks for Charity
Learn about a local organization that’s hosting a fun ladies night out June 23 to financially support local families who have children with life-threatening illnesses.

Want to enjoy a night of fun, fashion, dancing, and drinks? If your answer is yes then you’ll want to save your spot for the upcoming City Chicks for Charity event at Rhinegeist on Thursday, June 23.
Hosted by the Aubrey Rose Foundation, City Chicks for Charity is a new ladies night out event that allows women to go out and enjoy something unique while supporting the organization’s cause of helping families to care for children who suffer from life threatening illnesses.
“We strive to help families from life’s complexities during this difficult time by providing emotional and financial support,” says Aubrey Rose Co-Founder Nancy Hollenkamp.

The Aubrey Rose Foundation, which is headed up by Bobby Metzner, was founded in memory of Aubrey Rose. “Aubrey was always a very happy baby throughout everything she endured, and she smiled continuously,” adds Hollenkamp. “In honor, her foundation provides support and help for those who seek to be lifted from the complexities of life here on earth and to find a greater happiness in those things that could be. Aubrey brought a great light into our lives.”
Aubrey, Hollenkamp’s daughter, was born in November 1997. Doctors soon found that she had two holes in her heart, which required surgery at 10 weeks ago. Then, at 9 months, Aubrey was diagnosed with a condition called Scimitar Syndrome. “This is an extremely rare situation where two of her pulmonary veins traveled to her liver instead of to her lungs,” according to the Aubrey Rose Foundation’s website.
Aubrey underwent several major surgeries before coming home in mid-January 1999. One year after a set of surgeries, Aubrey passed away suddenly. “The autopsy results showed that Aubrey had chronic lung rejections, and unfortunately, there would have been nothing that we could have done about this condition had we known,” says Hollenkamp.

So now, her parents and their organization will honor her with an evening of fundraising to help other families in need.
A $35 ticket to City Chicks for Charity includes valet parking, food, two drink tickets, and a swag bag.
Additionally, the foundation will be selling raffle tickets for a Thelma & Louise Getaway to Gatlinburg. Tickets for the raffle, valued at $2,500, are $25 each or 5 for $100.
Also at the event will be 24 vendors, two different fashion shows, food, and beautiful decorations, all to help families with medically-fragile children.
