EI8HT BALL Brewing is a local brewery that’s embracing the new, the creative and the odd.

EI8HT BALL Brewing, officially opened in Nov. 2013, inside Newport-based The Party Source, which is now the world’s largest liquor store. This is north first micro-brewery and taproom located within a retail outlet.

“Our team wants to make great beer, we want to have fun doing it, and create something people are going to love and remember,” says Hannah Lowens the General Manager of EI8HT BALL Brewing. “We have hopefully created a space where beer lovers, nerds, and novices can come in, taste the best craft beers in the world, learn a little about them from our bartenders and generally sit back and enjoy.”

There are 42 craft beers on tap, including anywhere from 2-12 Ei8ht BALL beers, depending on what staffers are brewing. “We want to educate our patrons, but also create a space where folks can explore their tastes,” explains Lowens, “flights and tasters are a big part of the business.”

Lowens credits passion and attitude as the reason why Ei8ht BALL Brewing is so unique. “We’re local but not influenced, we might not move mountains, but we will push the envelope,” says Lowens. “We’re proud enough of our beer to serve it on tap with 42 other of the best craft beers from around the world, and are thrilled to be in their company.”

So what’s new on the horizon or shall we say on tap for Ei8ht BALL Brewery? “We’ve got our Tarnished Ale, Prodigal Son, and Red Drink in the tank as we speak,” says Lowens. Not to mention the Imperial Mocha Stout barrel aging in a Pappy Van Winkle barrel. Ei8ht Ball Brewery taps a very rare keg every Monday at 5 p.m.
