Stuck in quarantine and running low on wine? A new East End wine bar is stepping up to keep you stocked during the lockdown. Read on for all the delicious details.
The goal behind EMMA: Wine with Friends Wine Bar is to offer wine lovers of all kinds the opportunity to try and discover new wines through both a rotating wine bar as well as a retail store.
“We offer a self-service wine tasting model with an experienced team that can provide suggestions along the way,” says EMMA partner Jeffrey Pater.
The inspiration for EMMA came from the wives of the partners behind the business – Erica, Mackenzie, Megan, and Amanda, who wanted to create something out of their travel adventures as a group.
“Our tagline is Wine With Friends because that is what EMMA is rooted in, good friends enjoying good wine,” says Erica.
There are a total of 44 wines on the bar’s self-service platform. “The wine system allows for the wines to stay fresh and temperature controlled,” explains Pater. “You can choose to try any wine you’d like in a 1oz, 3oz, or 6oz portion.”
This tasting system allows for guests to try a few wines they never have before, and maybe discover a new favorite.
The cost of tastings vary at EMMA and range from $1.50 an ounce to $20 an ounce, ensuring that there is something for everyone and every budget.
While things have been seemingly put on hold as the state undergoes a lockdown, the four ladies at EMMA hope to roll out a one-on-one wine buying program in the near future. “Whether you are buying for your personal collection or for an upcoming wedding or event; we want to make the wine buying process personal and comfortable,” they say. “The program will allow customers to schedule time with our wine team to talk through preferences and budget. We can provide a tasting opportunity during the process to make sure you and your guest are getting exactly what you want.”
EMMA is located in the East End of Cincinnati, next ot the Hi-Mark and Eli’s BBQ.
The four friends behind EMMA Wine Bar aren’t letting COVID-19 stand in the way of them serving their customers delicious wine. While the current state mandate is in order prohibiting people from dining in restaurants, they will keep their retail store open from 2-7pm Tuesday through Sunday.
