Everyday Inspiration: Trust

Everyday Inspiration: Trust

Dearest Brilliance,

Trust. We are told we have to trust. It’s the new spiritual dogma. People always tell you to just trust. Trust that things will work out. Trust that the answer will come. Trust that you will be shown the way. Trust that if things don’t work out that a new solution will appear.

But how do we do this? How do we even get to the first part of this “trust” if we don’t even know where to start? To me it just feels like we are supposed to fall backwards and hope that someone is there to catch us!

What I do know is that most of our concerns fall into a couple categories: health, love, career and money. That pretty much sums it up. Most of us plan our lives around these themes, spending enormous time, energy and resources thinking of ways to make them better.

Yet most of us are paralyzed into the familiar everyday routine, wondering why our lives don’t look any different than they did five or 10 years ago.

You like many people have an idea of something you would like to do or somewhere you would like to go. A decision that you know you have to make that will change your life.

It may be as simple as asking your boss for a raise or more complicated like telling your spouse you really don’t want to live like this anymore. Up until this point you haven’t been able to Trust yourself into taking the step towards that direction, trusting that everything will be okay in the end.

This inevitably leads me to my next question, one that is begging for consideration.

What CAN you trust in? Can you trust in YOU? Can you be certain that life will guarantee a great result and pull you through when you finally decide to GO FOR IT?

Absolutely positively not! There are no guarantees that everything will turn out how you think. Life may have bigger plans for you than YOU do!

This is where trust comes in. You don’t know the whole picture right now. When you look back later you will realize that what unfolded was beyond anything you could have imagined.

But if you don’t take that leap you will find yourself stuck. I would like to point out the fact that even if you do NOTHING, you will still not know for sure what is going to happen.

The only difference between the two scenarios is that at least with the first you are going with your heart’s desire and living the life you want. Making choices with freedom and a sense of aliveness, come what may. The second is simply going along with what’s expected, playing it safe, and living in fear. Living a life spent talking about what you “almost” did and “wished” you did.

It is not your ability that limits you. The only thing that is limiting YOU is YOU. Dare to live your Truth.

There are three things to keep in mind when you are going to live an authentic life.

One: Never wait until you are ready or have everything lined up neatly in a row. Don’t wait your entire life for the perfect moment, because it will never come.

Two: It will feel positively terrifying and exuberant. It should be a stretch because you are finally out of your comfort zone, embracing what’s new.

Third: Life responds to movement. Think of it like the GPS in our car. It doesn’t start to guide us until the wheels start to move. Once we start moving on the road, there will be many turns. It will not be a straight path to get where you want to be.

But TRUST. TRUST that there is constant course correction available and WE can tap into ourselves at any time to redirect.

How can we expect our lives to be any different if we keep doing the same thing over and over?

Would you rather feel alive and live a life that is worthy of you?

Trust comes in when you realize that there will be times when you will mess up and make mistakes. There will even be some times when you will not even know what to do next. This is ok. Just like anything new, you will need to start developing those Trust muscles again.

Now step back, get quiet and listen. Listen to that inner GPS that over time you lost. When you get reacquainted, it will guide you like never before into the life that has been waiting for you since time began.

Are you ready?
