Far Out. Psychedelic. Can you dig it? Right On.
Better start practicing your hippy lingo now because the tie-dyed Rockin’ 70s-themed Light Up The Night fundraising gala, benefiting Women Helping Women of Hamilton County, will take place April 30 at Horseshoe Casino. This year’s event concept is all about “Peace, Love and Understanding,” according to Light Up The Night Chairperson Kathy Davis.
The inaugural gala was held in 2006, although Women Helping Women had already been holding an annual spring fundraiser for several years. “I created the gala and chaired it the first three years and now I’m back again as the chair for 2015 and have signed on to chair in 2016 and 2017,” says Davis.
Title sponsors for Light Up The Night 2015 are Marilyn and Martin Wade. The event provides attendees with dinner-by-the-bite from some of Cincinnati’s top restaurants in addition to wine, beer and specialty drinks. Guests will also enjoy a silent auction, raffles, a wine pull and dancing with music provided by WGRR’s Dwaine Luna, the Lunaman.
Davis says guests coming back year after year because the Light Up The Night events are so much fun. “We keep the location fresh, change the theme each year, change up the games of chance, provide fabulous food and offer great raffle and silent auction prizes,” she adds.
In past years, as many as 300 people have attended Light Up The Night, but this year is going to be even better. Davis says the event has been moved to a new location for 2015, and as a result, they are expecting at least 400 attendees. “We’re very excited about the new location,” she says. “It’s a beautiful ballroom located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati. It’s easy to get to and even offers free parking.”
The event will take place Thursday, April 30 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. A single ticket for Light Up The Night is $75 per person. Host and hostess level tickets range in price from $100 to one admission to $1,000 for a reserved table for 10 guests, which includes two drink tickets per person.
