“Unfortunately, our city has a reputation for not being supportive toward each other, and it is our goal to prove that notion wrong,” says Scales. SipNShop Cincinnati events feature various regionally-based businesses in the beauty, fashion and lifestyle industries.

The most recent SipNShop event took place on August 10, 2013 at Dlamb Studios in St. Bernard. Tickets were $7, and included complimentary cupcakes and cocktails served by the Columbus-based Mixotic Mixology team, and beauty services from various makeup artists including a traveling glam team from Columbus. Several “pop up boutiques” were also set up with price points ranging from $10-150.

“The purpose of our events is to bring unity amongst businesses and brands within the city, give them the opportunity to showcase their brand and/or products to the masses,” says Scales. “Our goal is to prove Cincinnati is capable of all these things, especially in the black communities.”

As for future plans, Scales says they’re already planning their next event. The next one will feature a larger venue, more sponsorships and a wider variety of vendors. “Because our venue wasn’t big, we had to turn away a lot of vendors,” says Scales. “Our plan is to have a SipNShop Cincinnati every season and with every event we have we plan to get bigger and better. The events will be a chance to open the doors to all those that have something to share or showcase.”
