Does supporting local businesses and causes while enjoying a fashion show and shopping sound appealing? You’ll want to mark your calendar for Sophistication Rocks on Nov. 15 at the Civic Garden Center.
Diane Hooks, co-chairperson at Sophistication Rocks, says the event was designed by volunteer members of the Community Outreach Association formed in August, 2014. “It was formed to bring local talents and businesses together on a fundraiser effort for the Foundation Sarcoidosis Research and the Cincinnati Black Theatre Company,” she explains. “The inspiration for this event is to collaborate with local entrepreneurs, restaurants, public high schools students to showcase their talents and give businesses exposure in the city.”
The cost to attend is $25 as a guest, which includes a fashion show, networking and live entertainment including a Youth Dance Team, Woodward High School students, and the Cincinnati Black Theatre Company Professionals. “This amount is a contribution to both non-profit organizations we have selected as the recipients of our giving back to a cause,” says Hooks.
The clothing for the Fashion Show will be provided by TJ Maxx, JC Penny’s, and Rue 21. Numerous vendors will also be on-site to give attendees the opportunity to shop and learn about local businesses.
“Sophistication Rocks’ main goal is to raise funds for the Foundation Sarcoidosis Research and the Cincinnati Black Theatre Company, while connecting Businesses with customers, supporting the arts,” Hooks says. “Also, to stimulate a sense of collective economics in our community with youth giving their support through involvement for the success of the event, to build a strong networking system of commitment to succeed in sustainability.”
