Cluttered makeup drawers and vanities: it’s a common scenario for many women. That’s why Nancy Dawson, owner of BRIDEface Cincinnati, is on a mission to simplify beauty. “Women really want to look like the best version of themselves,” she says, and she wants to help them get there.

So, mark your calendar for March 18 as Dawson hosts the “Just for Fun: Makeup Palette” event at The Creative Hookup in Montgomery. Guests will get a personalized beauty consultation to discover the styles and shades that best suit them. From there, they can customize their own palette to ensure that they always have the colors they need – and get ride of the ones they don’t.

“When I teach makeup classes, I always ask the clients to bring in their makeup bags. Time and time again, I see pre-made palettes that are only being utilized about 15%. I see clutter,” Dawson says. “The palettes we sell enable clients to curate the shades they actually use into one sleek collection, and get rid of all that extra stuff. It’s so much better when you have the ability to fully customize your palette.” Ladies who don’t so much need a full vanity makeover but who instead want a few fresh spring looks will also have the option of purchasing individual shadows.

This simplified approach to beauty has long-inspired Dawson’s career in cosmetics. She explains, “I am more about enhancing a woman’s natural beauty and bringing out her very best, than transforming them into another person or giving them an overly artificial look.”

Dawson is the owner of on-the-go bridal beauty company, BRIDEface, which is in its 11th year of serving Cincinnati brides. “The honor of being chosen by someone on the most photographed day of her life and making her feel like a celebrity for the day is priceless.”

But the beauty love isn’t just for brides. She also created her own line of beauty products called FACEing. Dawson and her team love to help anyone find the best version of themselves with her one-on-one and group makeup classes.

Dawson is looking forward to sharing fresh makeup trends for spring at the Just for Fun event. One of her favorite tricks? “Color on the lips! Our FACEing collection features bright pops on the lips and defined nudes on the eyes. So modern and very flattering!”

Andrea and Ashley Lauren love brides. That’s why they want to make them look beautiful while also keeping the products they use free of toxins and dangerous chemicals.

The dynamic duo behind Cincy Bridal Beauty are long-time professional makeup artists, and also own Cincy Style Bar and Alba Organic Beauty Studio in Hyde Park — all of which use toxin-free, eco-friendly products. That’s what set them up for success when they launched Cincy Bridal Beauty, a team of professional makeup and hair artists that provide both in-studio and on-location wedding day preparations for brides.

When asked what inspired them to launch this business, they said it was a love of brides and a vision of being able to offer them “stress-free, affordable wedding day preparation.”

Cincy Bridal Beauty provides full-service, on-location and in-studio wedding makeup and hairstyling services. “We also offer a full range of pre-wedding bridal beauty preparation services from haircuts, color, facials, nails, airbrush tanning, waxing and massages,” says Andrea.

Yes, that means even in the months leading up to a bride’s big day, Cincy Bridal Beauty can help. They even offer makeup classes for those who want to change up their makeup techniques, or have a fun activity for a bachelorette party, Andrea says.

Something else that makes Cincy Bridal Beauty unique is that it they offer brides a full countdown to the wedding day beauty preparation experience. “We take brides from a consultation through a 6-month timeline of head-to-toe gorgeous,” Andrea explains. “Through this process, brides become ‘part of the family,’ which makes us all super invested in their wedding day happiness.”

Cincy Bridal Beauty also offers a private Bridal Suite for in-studio brides. They’re located on the line of Oakley and Hyde Park at 2882 Wasson Road in Cincinnati.

Downtown Cincinnati will soon be home to a new beauty bar, so we chat with the owner about the convenient, affordable services she plans to offer once those doors open.

Ariane Victoria of AV Beauty Bar is opening a
Ariane Victoria of AV Beauty Bar is opening a blowout studio also offering a special bridal beauty division this May.

Even though she spent the last decade living and working in several cities such as Chicago, New York and Nashville, Ariane Victoria is a Cincinnati girl at heart. However, Victoria’s roots called her home again this last year after she saw the city’s growing market and found the perfect space to open a blow out bar and beauty studio on Walnut Street called AV Beauty Bar, which she says will be officially opening in May 2016

The blow out bar and beauty studio will also boast a special bridal beauty division. Currently, Victoria says she and her team are booking now for on-location services in the comfort of clients’ homes and for bridal beauty services.

“We are happy to come to you for your girls’ night out or to get you ready for an event,” says Victoria.

Victoria says she was inspired to open her own beauty bar after she spent several years working at a concierge beauty company, where she made house calls and worked on video and photo shoot sets. While there, she found that she wanted to make her services available to the general public, where customers can walk in, relax for 30 minutes and walk out feeling refreshed and looking great.

“We want to make feeling amazing accessible, affordable and convenient,” she says.

The services offered by AV Beauty Bar include blowouts, up-dos, makeup services (airbrush and regular), makeup lessons, wardrobe styling, closet organization and men’s grooming. While AV Beauty Bar is all about the beauty, they don’t offer all hair services.

“We do not cut or color hair,” explains Victoria. “Instead, we focus on providing clients a timely and enjoyable grooming or styling service with a long lasting finish.

Victoria says that what makes her most excited about opening AV Beauty Bar is taking all that she’s done and learned in working with celebrities and bringing it to the general public. As a mother, Victoria says she understands how much of a struggle it can be when it comes to taking the time and energy to put yourself together.

“If we can make these services available to someone who needs a pick-me-up but cannot make it happen for themselves, then we have accomplished what we set out to do,” she says.

Victoria is looking forward to the future with AV Beauty Bar as they’ll soon be selling beauty products within the studio and eventually offer lash extensions.

“Once we open our doors we will host events not only for our clients, but to get the community together as well,” explains Victoria. We are also eager to start sharing our skills in the form of community service by teaching underprivileged people in the area proper grooming in order to reach their full professional and educational potential.”

This Cincinnati-based on-location makeup artist is a licensed cosmetologist, too -- a winning combo that makes for a flawless finish. Learn more about her bridal services and makeup lessons.

Summer Mazion, Founder of A Touch of Summer Makeup Artistry

It all started with a simple shopping trip. “I have been fascinated with makeup since I was 13 years old when my mother took me to a cosmetic counter for my birthday,” says Summer Mazion, founder of A Touch of Summer Makeup Artistry. “Not knowing then what path my life was going to take me, I moved away from a small town to fulfill my lifelong passion of becoming a licensed certified makeup artist.”

She earned her Associate Degree in Business Management in 2001, became a Licensed Managing Cosmetologist through the Aveda Frederic’s Institute in 2002, and a certified makeup artist through Westmore Academy of Cosmetic Arts in Burbank, California, in 2003.

“I have been very fortunate to have a wide range of experience to help me along the way, working from high end cosmetic counters to a facial plastic surgeon,” she says. “I pride myself on professionalism by listening to make sure we create a look that is customized especially just for you.”

Her background is what makes her different, Mazion says. “I know the background and anatomy of skin. How to correct skin through skincare,” she explains. “That, combined with expert makeup application, creates for a flawless finish.”

While she specializes in on-location bridal makeup, she also offers makeup artistry services for special occasions, pageants, or themes like Halloween. “Being an on-location makeup artist,” Mazion explains, “it’s more convenient and time efficient for my clients.”

General rates are $175 for bridal makeup, which includes a consultation prior to wedding and artificial eyelash application, as well as a flawless, long-wearing, water resistant airbrush makeup application. Each additional person at the same location is $75 with airbrush makeup application with artificial eyelash application included.

Mazion also offers Makeup Lessons for $100 per person. “I will travel to any location and teach a one-on-one interactive makeup application,” she explains. “We will start off with a day time look, then transform into something more dramatic for evening.” Lessons last at least two hours per session and include artificial eyelash application instruction.

“For more than 20 years, I have been educating and beautifying my clients as an on location makeup artist,” Mazion says. “I look forward to showing you the amazing gifts I’ve been blessed with by making you feel your outer beauty is rivaled only by your inner beauty.”
