It seems that once you become a mother, the hours turn into days and days into weeks before you realize how much time has passed. Between all the wonderful moments with your children, you don’t always make time for yourself to relax.
To help mothers unwind and learn a new skill (other than how to dress a toddler running down the hall), the Northside Farmers Market is hosting a Mother’s Day Lotion Workshop from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., where participants can make their own bottle of hand lotion.
According to Northside Farmers Market Manager Ana Bird, the workshop was inspired one of the the Northside Farmers Market’s great soap and body care makers, Karen Blocher, who launched the business Green Grrrl Wisdom.
“Karen is dedicated to sustainably sourced, natural, healthy body care items, and a handcrafted soaps, lotions, balms and salves,” says Bird. “She wants to share her knowledge with others in this fun workshop.”
During the event, attendees will learn about soap and lotion making and gain new knowledge about sustainably sourced ingredients before making a bottle of lotion of their own. Bird says iced or hot local tea will be served during the workshop as well as a snack. She adds that you’ll want to wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy.
“It’s a perfect outing for you and your friends,” says Bird.
The cost to attend the workshop is $15, and you can register on the Northside Farmers Market’s website. Of course, the workshop isn’t limited just to mothers. Bird says anyone is welcome to join in on the pampering fun. Keep in mind that the class is limited to 10 participants, so that everyone attending gets individual attention.
The Lotion Making Workshop will be held at the Northside Farmers Market, at its indoor location in the auditorium of North Presbyterian Church at 4222 Hamilton Avenue in Cincinnati. For those who arrive early, the market, which features 20 local food producers, is open from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
