“We bring a world-class restaurant experience to the comfort of our clients’ homes,” explains Leland Cummings, Owner and Chef at Occam Dining. “We provide everything from the plates, glassware, flatware, etc. We also provide a variety of services, including cooking classes and full-service catering.”
The inspiration for Occam Dining comes from the principle philosophy Occam’s razor, the simplest solution being the correct solution.
Cumming’s says that he applies Occam’s philosophy to the dishes he creates by incorporating and highlighting seasonal ingredients and several ways, which “allows each of the products to shine,” he says.
Cummings, and his business partner and Occam Dining’s Sommelier Kyle Elkins, make up the core team of the business. However, says Cummings, they staff each event based on the needs of the client.
The menu at Occam Dining changes alongside the seasons. “Spring highlights the color green, with peas, mixed lettuces, and often highlighting lamb as the entree,” explains Cummings. “Whereas in the winter we warm things up with dishes like squash soup with apples and sorghum, and prime cuts of beef.”
The uniqueness of Occam Dining is found in its concept. “Occam Dining is unique because we bring the restaurant to the client,” says Cummings. “It’s like having a restaurant pop-up in your home and gone after the meal is complete.”
When enjoying a dining experience with Occam, Cummings says that all they ask of clients is to provide where the experience will take place and to save them some space in the refrigerator.
However, Cummings isn’t letting this unique dining experience be the only aspect of Occam that stands out. He says he’s always meeting new people, finding new products, and exploring new ways to bring the best experience to their clients.
