Cincy Chic: What is Women Writing for (a) Change?
Dawn Koch, Program Manager at Women Writing for (a) Change: WWF(a)C is a group offering supportive writing circles to nurture and celebrate the individual voice. Our classes encourage self-expression through writing as well as other creative processes. In our writing circles and specialty classes, participants explore and work in a variety of genres, including journal-writing, poetry, prose, essay, song-writing, fiction and more. Most of our classes are for women or young women although some occasionally include men and boys.
Cincy Chic: Can you tell us more about your Core Classes?
Koch: In our core classes, facilitators offer writing prompts and resources, and encourage participants to choose and develop their own subject matter. Classes allow for personal writing time, sharing in large and small groups, guidance in giving and receiving useful, positive feedback and opportunities to read aloud to an audience.
Cincy Chic: When is your next Core Class Sampler program beginning?
Koch: Our latest sampler just occurred on August 15. We won’t have another one happening until October. The samplers occur before each new term, typically December or January, February or March, May, August, and October.
Cincy Chic: When does your next Core Class term start?
Koch: Fall Term I is an 8-week course and it costs $249. It is held on Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays from August 24 through October 15. Fall Term II begins October 26 and runs through December 17. The Fall Term I and II Bundle (which costs $475) enrolls writers in both 8-week courses for a complete 16-week course for a bundle option. The Fall Term 15-week courses are $475 and begin September 2 and run through December 16.
Cincy Chic: Where can readers go to learn more?
