Learn about a new Covington-based incubator kitchen that’s helping local start-ups cook up success.

Looking to start or grow your own food-based business? There’s a new 5,000 sq. ft. commercial incubator kitchen in Covington now available for rent.

Kickstart Kitchen, located in the basement of the CovWorx building, offers a variety of rental options – from hourly to monthly – for start-ups looking for commercial kitchen space.

The idea came to founder Mavis Linnemann-Clark from her first-hand experience launching her businesses. Her first company, The Delish Dish, was launched through the spring class of Bad Girl Ventures. That same year, she joined the Northern Kentucky Incubator Kitchen and launched her artisan jam line, Made by Mavis. “I started my company from an incubator and I thought it was a great way to start a business,” she says. “Now I want to help others do the same.”

Linnemann-Clark says she offers more than just the kitchen space, too. “As a business we offer commercial kitchen space and complimentary business services for our clients,” she adds, “we offer them a community.”

To many new businesses, Kickstart Kitchen acts as a mentor of sorts and brings these businesses into a community full of people who want to help. People in the community can then grow from each other and their lessons learned.

Linnemann-Clark says the process of Kickstart Kitchen begins with one-on-one discussions between her and potential clients, and then they discuss the rental details and develop a plan that will help the client and their business grow. After that, it is up to the individual to create their own success story.

Kickstart Kitchen is located at 1032 Madison Ave, Covington, KY 41011. For more information visit https://www.facebook.com/kickstartkitchen/ or mavis@thedelishdish.com.

When Cincy Chic chatted with Mavis Linnemann-Clark this time last year, she was just launching her line of jams, Made By Mavis. In the last 12 months, Linnemann-Clark is happy to report that this year is an even more exciting time for Made By Mavis as well as her catering business Delish Dish.

“It’s an exciting time here at Delish Dish,” she says. “Both my catering company, The Delish Dish, and my line of jams, Made By Mavis, have grown considerably in the past 12 months.”

During the last year, she’s brought on five new employees. Additionally, her Made By Mavis jams and jellies are now available in 45 stores compared to the 10 she was in last year.

Made By Mavis is carried in 16 Northern Kentucky Kroger stores, six Whole Foods stores, Remke’s stores, Jungle Jims, Findlay Market and several other specialty stores around Louisville, Lexington, Dayton, Columbus, Mason and Cincinnati.

In addition to the stores carrying her line of jams, Linnemann-Clark is also one of the faces of the Kentucky Proud campaign and Kroger Buys Local campaign. Plus, Linnemann-Clark, Delish Dish and Made By Mavis is getting great press with recent features in Cincinnati Magazine, Cincinnati Wedding Magazine, Edible Ohio Valley, the KY Proud Connection, the Bellevue Sun and on Fox19.

Last year, Linnemann-Clark said she was looking to expand Delish Dish into a 3,000-square-foot kitchen so that she could start pushing out more catering orders. She not only achieved that goal, but now she’s looking for an even bigger space.

“We’re currently looking to move into our own kitchen facility,” explains Linnemann-Clark. “I’ve been searching for over a year for a space large enough to hold both of my brands. We’re looking for 7,000- to 10,000 square-foot facility to call our own and put in a commercial kitchen.” But even with the kitchen she has now, Delish Dish can handle events from 10 to 500 guests, fulfilling the requests of her catering customers.
